01A rule about days, not about effort.
Courses here usually require posts on a set number of distinct days each week, and distinct is the whole of it. Three considered posts typed in one sitting meet the word count and miss the requirement; three brief ones spread over three evenings do less writing and satisfy it outright.
Whatever that is worth as teaching, a platform checks it rather than a person weighing it, so quality cannot rescue a breach. Students who lose these marks are seldom writing badly. They are writing on too few evenings.
It is also the only obligation in the course that refuses to be shifted to a convenient evening, which is what makes it costly inside five weeks. Almost everything else will wait for Saturday. This will not.
02Do the arithmetic on your own course.
Once, with the actual numbers, because the abstract version convinces nobody and the sum convinces everybody.
- Multiply the distinct days your course demands by the weeks in the term. That total is what this one rule books out of your diary.
- Hold it against the days a five-week course contains. The proportion is unsettling, and for a good many students it passes half.
- Put a second course beside it under the same rule. The bookings roughly double; the days available do not move at all.
- Then find what participation is worth in the final mark. Comparing those two numbers is the bargain you have been making without ever inspecting it.
03Learning teams, on a schedule with no slack.
Team work places a share of your mark inside other people's weeks, and across five of them nothing sits between spotting trouble and having to live with it. By the point somebody has clearly gone quiet, the hand-in is only days off.
Two things are worth doing straight away and neither costs anything. Set down who owns which part, who assembles it, and the date the pieces are due internally. Then keep your own dated copy of what you passed to the group, since that is the only record which outlives a collapse. Where one has already happened, your part can be written properly and the assembly taken on, so a silent member costs you marks rather than the whole piece. 04What usually gets released here.
Participation, and it is generally correct. It books the most evenings, carries a modest slice of the mark, and sits at the bottom of any slip we write, so pound for pound it returns more of your week than anything else in the catalog.

How fast does everything have to move in five weeks?
Faster than anywhere else in this catalog, which is why the syllabus is wanted on the first day rather than in the third week. Work runs several days in front of each deadline because nothing here absorbs a slip. Arriving in week four means a frank conversation about what remains reachable.
My team has produced nothing. What can be done?
Your own part written to the brief, and the assembly taken on where pieces have arrived in different shapes. Nobody can compel an absent member. Send your instructor a short written note the moment it becomes clear, because a record made during the trouble carries far more weight than an explanation offered later.
Should back-to-back courses be planned together?
Nearly always, and almost nobody does. The following course opens at once, so a hard one hands its fatigue straight on instead of finishing. Mapping the next three together usually shows that carrying fewer of them thoroughly outperforms thin cover across every one.
How is a five-week course priced?
