01The reply is graded writing.
Read the row that covers replies and it generally asks for what the opening post asked for, at smaller scale: attention to the specific argument in front of you, something to back it, and a contribution that moves the thread on rather than agreeing with it.
Which means a reply that could be pasted underneath any post in the discussion has failed, and failed visibly, because the person marking has read the whole board and can see that it fits everywhere. That is the commonest way marks leave a course without anybody noticing them go.
It also explains why replies cost more time than students plan for. The writing is short. The reading, of somebody else's post carefully enough to say something specific about it, is not.
02What a reply has to do.
Four things, and none of them takes long once the reading is done.
- Name the thing your classmate actually argued, in their terms rather than in general terms.
- Add something they did not have: a complication, a counter-example, a piece of evidence.
- Support it where a claim is being made, cited as your course requires.
- Ask them something specific, which most sheets reward and most students omit.
- And post it on the day the sheet names, since a requirement for separate days fails on the calendar rather than on the quality.
03Why this is usually the first thing released.
It is the smallest figure on any slip written here and the one that alters a week furthest, because nothing else in a normal course refuses so completely to be moved. A paper will wait until Saturday. A thread wanting an opening post one day and replies another has taken two evenings whatever those evenings already held.
Coverage is one person for the term, in your subject, reading the week's material and posting to the sheet on the days it names, with the calendar taken from your syllabus at the outset so nothing needs reminding. Everything comes to you first.
Scope is per course, so two courses are two lines and either can go. Where the assignments alongside are also difficult, the combined arrangement is the weekly drumbeat and costs less than ordering separately.
04Quizzes, and what is not included.
Open, untimed quizzes attached to a week's thread can be included, and that is confirmed against your course rules before a figure is given rather than assumed afterwards. Anything invigilated, timed against your presence, or identity-checked sits outside what this house does, and that boundary does not move.

Do the replies answer what my classmates wrote?
Yes, and that is where the hours go. Something generic is obvious to anybody who has read the whole board and lands at the bottom of the row. Reading the post properly is the work; saying something specific about it afterwards takes only a few minutes.
My course wants posts on separate days. Is that handled?
It is lifted off your syllabus at the outset and kept to without prompting, since this is the requirement people lose on a technicality far more often than on quality. Where the rule names particular days instead of merely distinct ones, those exact days go into the schedule.
Can two courses be covered together?
Yes, priced as one line apiece so either can go. Each is taken by somebody working in that subject rather than one person handling both, since a thread in a clinical course and a thread in a management course want different reading behind them however alike their word counts look.
Are quizzes included?
